Easy, Tasty Dip Recipes for Thanksgiving or Anytime

These are adaptable to personal tastes but tasty basics make them a hit not only at Thanksgiving while watching football but at other times of the year also!

If there should be leftovers these can work well in – or topping – casseroles as leftovers. This automatically eliminates wasted food at the dinner table and ‘plans’ for a meal for the weekend that takes little effort to put together. This allows time to spend time with family, decorating for Christmas, shopping or whatever you want to do besides cook!

The first is as easy as you want to make it if you rely on ‘heat & serve’ items or for even more taste make from scratch. If you’re scrambling to get the Thanksgiving meal ready, draft some help and make this! Soften 1 or 2 8 ounce blocks of cream cheese – you can use the inexpensive generic or, if you prefer, the flavored kind. Spread in the bottom of an 8X8 or 9X13 pan (depending on if 1 or 2 is used) . Top with 1 or 2 cans of no bean chili, which need not be name brand but quality helps here! Top this with shredded cheese to taste and pop in a 350F oven until melted and warmed through, about 8-10 minutes.

You can also, instead of the 1-2 cans of no bean chili, brown ground meat and add chili seasonings and tomato paste and use this for a more “from scratch” taste. You can add other things according to taste. Quick and easy and tasty!

The other is combining two cups of sour cream with a packet of dry French onion soup mix. Mix thoroughly and enjoy. Some prefer to let this sit in the refrigerator for an hour or so to let the flavors blend. This is also easy to stretch to three cups if it’s too “oniony” or you could experiment adding garlic powder if you prefer garlic taste instead. Some like the addition of bacon bits, while others prefer the basic taste. It’s easy to adapt to personal tastes.

While the dips add to the festivities it is – or should be – the “pre-show” – preparing for the big meal. These are easy and allow those who “can’t cook” to help while still providing a tasty dip for snacking.
