1/8 pound bacon, ground

1 egg, slightly beaten

¼ cup minced onion

1 slice garlic, minced

1 ½ teaspoon salt

Mix first 7 ingredients thoroughly. Shape into loaf and place in greased baking pan. Mix stock and flour together and spread over loaf. Bake in moderate oven (350* F) about 1 ½ hours. Serve with tomato sauce. Serves 8. A slice of bacon may be placed on top of loaf before baking. Use half beef and half pork, bake not less than 2 hours – Military Meals at Home Cookbook 1943
